~Intro~

I like Vaporwave. I like the whole aesthetic. The music is calm and nice, the images look really cool with the combonation of neons and pastels, and greek statues. I just really like the whole vibe to it. It's a nice aesthetic, I like it a lot.

~What is Vaporwave~

Vaporwave is an aesthetic originating in the early 2000s, alongside the rise of the electronic dance industry. The retro feel stems from the early internet design and glitchy feels of images in this aesthetic. It's kind of like a slightly darker (and I mean that in sense of the colors used) Fruitger Aero, in a sense, with the assosiaton with old tech and just overall feel.

~Why I Love Vaporwave~

As stated before, I just really like the whole vibe of the aesthetic. It's pretty, and I'm honestly a sucker for vibe-y stuff. It reminds me of those old "vibe" games on Roblox I used to play all the time, before the enshittification of the game took root. Vaporwave's what probably inspired those games, looking back on it now. I hold a lot of nostalgia for those types of games, and then when I actually discovered Vaporwave, my brain made the assosiation.

Off the topic of my roblox nostalgia, I just really like the aesthetic in general, though I've made that pretty obvious already, I'll admit that. I really don't want to sound like a broken record, but the retro-futuristic vibe of all the artwork is what really pulled me in too. Same reason I like stuff like fruitger aero.

It's a nice genre of both music and images, one which ended up left to the wayside after community discorse I was honestly never around for. I probably wouldn't care for it. Even if I was around at the time, but now I'm here, with just some music and images, and I just want to enjoy this in peace.
